Phase IX - Engine & Gear Box Almost Ready

It is the second week of October and today I have heard the sound of the engine for the first time. We put together a make shift gas tank to supply the engine with fuel as well as water to cool from a bucket. Even it was only for a few minutes, the roaring sound of this 60 year old engine is fantastic. I think this is a big step. There are a few paint problems as well as the fact that we are still waiting for a new exhaust manifold and an air filter from the mail. Well, it takes time but it will all get together very well. The sound of the engine makes it all worth.

Phase VIII - Engine Work

August went by as we keep cleaning and removing parts off the chassis. Now it is the second week of September and the guts of the engine is out. Good news is everything looks in very good shape. We will get away with some cleaning, painting and a few small easy to find parts.

Phase VII - Removin the Engine

Second week of July and the engine and gear box is off the chassis. We decided to work on the engine and the gear box first. Cleaning of the chassis will continue while we send the engine and the gear box to professionals.

Phase VI - Chassis

Finally the chassis is in clear view. There are a lot of made up and misplaced parts on this chassis. We will start with cleaning the whole chassis as well as removing bits and pieces that are attached to it. As usual we are recoding every item very carefully.

Phase V - Removing the Shell

Fourth week of June and the shell is finally off the chassis. We got some much need help from our neighbors forklift. The car got another wash and got back in to the garage.

Phase IV - Still Disassembling!!!

Third week of June and work is slowly advancing as we spent our Sundays in the garage. Every exterior body part is removed and the shell is ready to be lifted free from the chassis. The carrot Mercedes Benz in the first picture is my first car project. It used to belong to my grandfather. It is 1976 w123 200 Mercedes Benz in fantastic shape.

Phase III - Still Disassembling

Second week of June and we are still disassembling the car. We decided to give it a good wash since we discovered unidentified bones (I think they are rat bones) and many other unknown living things under neath the floor upholstery.
